Breathe the Mountain Air: A Greenbrier River Trail Experience
Overview: Embark on a rejuvenating four-day, three-night adventure tailored for ladies, in the heart of the scenic Greenbrier River's mountains in wild and wonderful West Virginia!
Your days will be spent meandering along the picturesque Greenbrier River in the stunning Allegheny Mountains. Immerse yourself in hiking, biking, kayaking, and refreshing yoga sessions amidst nature's splendor and challenge yourself with invigorating mountain hikes in the nearby Watoga State Park.
Enjoy the flat, wide, unpaved Greenbrier River Trail on foot, by e-bike, and in a kayak.
Your evenings will be spent in the the cozy haven of a 4-bedroom, 4.5 bath, fully-equipped lodge nestled on the Greenbrier River.

Begin your unforgettable adventure with a hike on the Greenbrier River Trail. This unpaved rail-to-trail offers not just level hiking, but also breathtaking scenic beauty and rich history as it meanders along the picturesque Greenbrier River.
Recognized as one of the top 10 hiking trails in the United States by Backpacker magazine, this trail is a must-experience for nature enthusiasts and history buffs alike.
Ladies, don't miss out on this exhilarating journey! Arrive early and be ready to depart from the charming town of Seetbert, WV, at 1:30 pm sharp. As the title suggests, this is for the early birds, so make sure you’re on time!

Cass State Park Adventure- Our day kicks off with an exciting shuttle van ride to the northern terminus of the Greenbrier River Trail at the captivating Cass State Park. Step back in time as you explore the town of Cass, which has retained its historic charm since its founding in 1901 by a timbering company.
Get ready for a thrilling couple of hours as we embark on a walking tour of this fascinating town. Dive into history at the visitor center, uncover the past at the historical museum, and shop for unique finds at the Company Store. Experience life as it was in a logging town in the early 1900s.
35-mile Ebike Adventure Extravaganza - Gear up for an exhilarating ride on our lightweight, pedal-assist e-bikes as we cruise slightly downhill on the Greenbrier River Trail. Along the way, we'll take delightful pit stops for rest breaks, breathtaking scenic views, lunch, and a refreshing yoga session. Plus, we'll enjoy an extended visit to the charming mountain town of Marlinton.
Lunch on the go - A delicious box lunch will be provided to keep you fueled for the adventure.
The Greenbrier River Trail meanders through stunning landscapes, showcasing lush forests, rolling hills, and the picturesque Greenbrier River alongside it. Get ready to encounter charming small towns, historic sites, and an array of wildlife.
You'll pass by several historical landmarks, including crossing over old railroad bridges and riding through the awe-inspiring 511-feet long Sharp's Tunnel, built in 1899. The trail's primarily crushed limestone surface ensures a smooth ride. Best of all, the battery-powered e-bike motor will provide an effortless boost, letting you fully enjoy the journey.
Everything you need - Ebike, rear rack, pannier bags, bicycle helmet, and box lunch provided. For your safety, a bicycle helmet must be worn at all times while riding.

Epic Mountain Hike Adventure - 2.5 Miles of Pure Strenuous Fun - Get ready for an adrenaline-pumping ascent on the Arrowhead Trail in Watoga State Park! This challenging hike takes you straight up a steep mountain, covering one exhilarating mile from river level to the summit.
At the top, you’ll be rewarded with the breathtaking Ann Bailey Lookout Tower, offering sweeping, vews of the stunning Greenbrier River Valley. It's a sight you won't want to miss!

Thrilling Kayaking Expedition - Get ready for an unforgettable afternoon on the Greenbrier River! Embark on a beginner-friendly, leisurely 10-mile kayaking trip that promises to be a perfect blend of relaxation and adventure.
As we paddle along the serene river, you'll be immersed in the tranquility of nature, surrounded by lush forests, rolling hills, and an abundance of wildlife. The river meanders through the heart of West Virginia, offering stunning vistas at every turn.
Discover the joy of gentle stretches perfect for a relaxing float, interspersed with sections of mild rapids that add just the right touch of excitement to your journey.
Safety first: Kayak, paddle, and life vest are provided, and for your safety, a life vest must be worn at all times while on the water.
Note: This kayak trip is dependent on suitable and safe water levels of the Greenbrier River. Low or high water levels could cause this trip to be canceled or shortened.

Fred E. Brooks Memorial Arboretum Loop - 4.4 Miles - For our final event, Embark on an another adventure hike through Watoga State Park on the Fred E. Brooks Memorial Arboretum Loop. This moderate trail is a paradise for nature enthusiasts, showcasing a diverse array of plant species and offering a tranquil escape into the heart of West Virginia's natural beauty.
The trail features gently rolling terrain, making it an enjoyable hike in the park's pristine landscapes. The Fred E. Brooks Memorial Arboretum Loop provides the perfect blend of relaxation and exploration, allowing you to reconnect with nature and appreciate the rich biodiversity of the area.

The Lodge On The Greenbrier River
The Lodge has 4 bedrooms each with their own full bathroom, plus an additional half bath, dining and living room spaces, air conditioning, TV with Roku, WiFi,landline phone, a fully quipped kitchen, coffee bar, refrigerator, dishwasher, and gas grill.
This spacious cabin is located on the Greenbrier River and Greenbrier River Trail. Enjoy watching the scenic view of the Greenbrier River from your front deck or enjoy a campfire in the fire pit in the backyard.
The sleeping arrangements are four women to a bedroom. Each bedroom has two queen beds, two deluxe folding beds, and a master bathroom. The first four registrants will be assigned queen beds. The next four registrants will be assigned deluxe folding beds.
Alternatively, there is one private bedroom available. It has one queen bed and a master bathroom. This option is best for two people who are traveling together and are ok with sharing a bed.
Switching beds and/or sharing beds is fine upon mutual agreement. Linens, pillows, and towels are provided.
Important: The Lodge does not have cell service as it is located in a mountain river valley. The Lodge has Wifi and a landline.
A convenience store is nearby. A convenience store with gas pumps and a Dollar General are four miles away. All other services are a 30-minute drive.

The Greenbrier River and the Greenbrier River Valley are located in southeastern West Virginia. The Greenbrier River is a 173-mile-long tributary of the New River, and it is the longest free-flowing river in the state. The Greenbrier River Valley is a scenic region known for its rolling farmlands, forested mountain slopes, small villages, and unique ecosystems.
The Greenbrier River Valley is a popular destination for outdoor recreation, including fishing, kayaking, canoeing, and hiking. The Greenbrier River Trail, a 77-mile-long rail trail, parallels the river and offers scenic views of the valley. The valley is also home to several state parks and forests, including the Monongahela National Forest.
Your Guides
Sarah Mayher.
Sarah loves camping, hiking, kayaking, and backpacking. A few of her favorite adventures include backpacking the Grand Canyon and Laurel Highlands Trail in Pennsylvannia, hiking the Presidential Traverse in New Hampshire and Appalachian Trail Triple Crown in Virginia, and summiting Mount Elbert in Colorado and Katahdin in Maine. She is a world traveler and has travled to places such as Patagonia, China, and Greece. Sarah stays fit by taking Orangetheory classes, lifting weights, and practicing yoga. She completed a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Certification program and is certified in Wilderness First Aid and CPR. She comes from a family of hikers and is known for planning "vacations" that require her friends and family to wake up well before dawn to hike 15 or more miles. Sarah's heart is somewhere adventuring even when she is behind the desk at her regular 9-5 job. She inspires others to embrace challenges and Type-2 fun. (Type-2 Fun: fun in retrospect, but not while it's happening.)
Andy "Captain Blue" Niekamp.
Andy Niekamp is the Chief Adventure Officer for Outdoor Adventure Connection, which specializes in backcountry adventures. Andy has backpacked over 20,000 miles including five end to end hikes of the Appalachian Trail and thru hikes of the Buckeye Trail, Ohio To Erie Trail, Florida Trail, Arizona Trail, Camino de Santiago, Sheltowee Trace, Long Trail, Ozark Highlands Trail, Colorado Trail, Superior Hiking Trail, John Muir Trail and the Bartram Trail. Andy is founder and leader of the Dayton Hikers group, the largest outdoor recreation group in Dayton, Ohio, and a Leave No Trace Master Educator. Andy Niekamp grew up and lives in Dayton and has a passion for long distance hiking which he shares with others. Andy brings his wealth of backpacking experience and his passion for hiking to this program. He has two rules for his backpacking trips. Number 1: Be safe. Number 2: Have fun!

Physical Challenge: A good to an above-average level of physical fitness is a requirement to enjoy this event. All activities should be considered vigorous-intensity by this CDC Scale.
You are responsible for determining if you are in a condition fit to participate. If you have any doubts, you should consult your doctor. People with an unhealthy BMI might find these activities too strenuous.

IMPORTANT - READ THIS! The weather in the Allegheny Mountains is notoriously unpredictable. Be prepared for severe weather conditions, which can occur on any day of the year. In June, you may encounter colder temperatures, thunderstorms, hail, lightning, high winds, fog, and low visibility. For your safety and comfort, our guides reserve the right to modify, change, add, or cancel any events based on weather conditions.
